Swift & Verrutop
Verruca Treatment
A specialist option for persistent verrucae, supported by an individual assessment and an honest discussion of what treatment involves.
What Is Swift Microwave Treatment?
Swift uses a small applicator to deliver controlled microwave energy to a verruca. This creates a localised heating response intended to help the immune system recognise and respond to the virus responsible for the lesion.
What Happens At Your Appointment?
- Assessment: We check the lesion, your medical history and treatment suitability, then discuss your options.
- Preparation: We prepare the treatment area and position the applicator.
- Short Applications: Our usual clinic approach is five applications of two seconds, typically at 8–10 watts of power. Settings and the number of applications are adjusted where clinically appropriate.
- Review: We monitor the response and agree whether further treatment is needed.

What Does It Feel Like?
Swift can cause a brief, sharp sensation of heat or discomfort during each application. It is not a pain-free treatment; tell us how it feels so we can manage your treatment appropriately.
After Treatment
Swift normally needs no dressing and you can usually walk out and resume everyday activities as comfort allows. It does not normally create an open wound, but no treatment is entirely without risk. Contact us if you develop unexpected skin breakdown, increasing redness, swelling or pain.
Verrutop: An Alternative Option
If Swift is unsuitable or you prefer another approach, we can assess whether Verrutop is appropriate. This is a professional chemical treatment applied precisely to the verruca. Its nitric–zinc complex acts on the affected tissue, causing it to dry out and gradually separate.
Verrutop has its own suitability checks and aftercare instructions; it is not automatically suitable for everyone who cannot have Swift. We explain what to expect, any repeat applications and the price before treatment. Do not pick or cut away treated tissue yourself.
How Many Appointments Will I Need?
With Swift, we find verrucae clear after around 2–3 sessions on average in our clinic. This can be fewer or more, depending on your response. We review progress at each stage; clearance cannot be guaranteed.
Verrutop has a separate treatment plan, with repeat applications discussed according to your response.
Verruca Care: Patient Reviews
Fabulous experience. Little girl suffered for over a year with verrucas and TP sorted them out no bother. Thank you.
Tom managed to resolve an issue with a verruca that was previously mis-diagnosed as a corn. Resolved quickly with just two treatments. Would highly recommend!
